Street Reconstruction Project 19-1 – 4 miles of residential streets

The Contractor for this project is North Valley, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Herb Thielbar, who can be reached at 763-274-2580 (office) or 612-716-4214 (cell). Zach Pfieffer is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. This project is substantially complete. Please contact the City if there are any ongoing issues with irrigation systems or other items that need to be addressed. 

Street Reconstruction Project 19-2 – 2.3 miles of MSA streets (Foley Boulevard from 115th Avenue to 124th Avenue, Wedgewood Drive from Main Street to Round Lake Boulevard, Olive Street from 121st Avenue to Main Street) 

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction. The Contractor's main contact is Dan Bodza, who can be reached at 612-248-7760 (cell). Jon Halter with Hakanson Anderson is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Jon can be reached at 612-282-0725 (cell).

Work on the Sand Creek culvert replacements was completed on October 29. The Contractor spent the balance of this week reconstructing the road section of Foley Boulevard at Sand Creek, and preparing for new curb and gutter to be installed on Tuesday of next week (November 5). The first lift of asphalt pavement in the culvert replacement area will follow after curb installations are complete next week. Once pavement is in place late next week or Saturday, the road can be re-opened to traffic. The final lift of asphalt pavement is planned for early the week of November 11. The project completion date has been shifted to the week of November 11. Regular mail service will be restored the week of November 11 as well.  

Both Olive Street and Wedgewood Drive are substantially complete. Please contact the City if there are any ongoing issues with irrigation systems or other items that need to be addressed on these streets. 

Street Reconstruction Project 19-3 – 3.3 miles of residential streets 

The Contractor for this project is Douglas-Kerr Underground, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Ryan Kerr, who can be reached at 320-679-8937 (office) or 320-515-0046 (cell). Jason Huebscher is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Port Riverwalk Development Project 19-12 – Grading, Erosion Control, and Turf Establishment 

Work during the week of November 4 includes continued removals, mass grading, and new sewer and water utility installations for the new Port Riverwalk development.

Work on the new sanitary sewers and watermain installations will continue within the 1st Addition Riverwalk development area (Zilla Street, Avocet Street, and 100th Avenue). The temporary Zilla Street roadway connection between 98th Lane and East River Boulevard will remain open all next week. It is recommended that traffic going to the neighborhood, apartments, and nursing home south of Coon Rapids Boulevard access the area via Egret Boulevard. 

Anoka County Project – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). The County’s Contractor for this project is C.S McCrossan. Harry Grams is the County’s Construction Supervisor, and can be contacted at 763-324-3114.

Proposed 2020 Projects

Planning for 2020 street reconstruction projects is underway! At the September 3, 2019 City Council meeting, staff recommended two projects: 20-1 consists of approximately 2.6 miles of residential streets, and 20-2 includes approximately 2.1 miles of Municipal State Aid (MSA) streets and 0.2 miles of local streets.
