Street Reconstruction Project 19-1 – 4 miles of residential streets

Work planned for the week of October 7 includes sidewalk construction along the north side of 131^st Avenue between the Coon Creek bridge and Coon Creek Boulevard. Boulevard restorations are planned for streets north of 131^st Avenue within the phase 3 area.

Installation of the final lift of asphalt pavement is tentatively planned for streets located south of 131^st Avenue within phase 3.

Street Reconstruction Project 19-2 – 2.3 miles of MSA streets (Foley Boulevard from 115^th Avenue to 124^th Avenue, Wedgewood Drive from Main Street to Round Lake Boulevard, Olive Street from 121^st Avenue to Main Street)

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction. The Contractor's main contact is Dan Bodza, who can be reached at 612-248-7760 (cell). Rene Garcia (612-360-4707) with Park Construction is the Contractor point of contact for watermain pipe replacements. Work planned for the week of October 7 includes boulevard restorations on Wedgewood Drive, with paving of the final lift of asphalt pavement by the end of next week (tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 12).

Grading and preparation for asphalt paving is planned for Foley Boulevard north and south of the road closure. Base lift asphalt pavements for Foley Boulevard are planned for Wednesday and Thursday, and paving of the new asphalt trail on the east side of Foley Boulevard is planned for next Friday.

Work on the Sand Creek culvert replacements will continue throughout the week. Foley Boulevard will remain closed to traffic for the foreseeable future as this culvert replacement work continues.

To accommodate the Sand Creek culvert replacements, Foley Boulevard is closed at the Sand Creek crossing south of 118^th Avenue. A posted detour is currently in place from Northdale Boulevard to 121^st Avenue via University Avenue (local access will be maintained).

Street Reconstruction Project 19-3 – 3.3 miles of residential streets

Work during the week of October 7 includes placement of the final lift of asphalt pavement in the Phase 1B area (Bridgewater neighborhood consisting of Alder Street, Butternut Street, Cottonwood Street, 116th Avenue, 116th Lane, and 117th Avenue).

Concrete sidewalk and curb replacements should be completed on the east side of Springbrook Drive and Holly Street. Asphalt paving will take place on the northbound lanes of Springbrook Drive and Holly Street by the end of the week.

Grading and preparation for sidewalk replacements will continue on Mississippi Boulevard from Hanson Boulevard to Ibis Street.

Boulevard restorations will continue on Flora Street north of 109^th Lane, adjacent to the Coon Rapids Ice Center.

New concrete sidewalk and curb replacements are planned to be completed on the East River Road Service Road between Larch Street and 84^th Lane.

Port Riverwalk Development Project 19-12 – Grading, Erosion Control, and Turf Establishment

Work during the week of September 30 includes continued removals and mass grading for the new Port Riverwalk development. Local traffic will continue to be able to use Zilla Street/East River Boulevard and Egret Boulevard to access Coon Rapids Boulevard. Work is planned to begin on permanent utility construction next Wednesday or Thursday. The Zilla Street/East River Boulevard to Coon Rapids Boulevard access will be closed for short periods of time to accommodate this work.

Anoka County Project – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). The County’s Contractor for this project is C.S McCrossan. Harry Grams is the County’s Construction Supervisor, and can be contacted at 763-324-3114.

Proposed 2020 Projects

Planning for 2020 street reconstruction projects is underway! At the September 3, 2019 City Council meeting, staff recommended two projects: 20-1 consists of approximately 2.6 miles of residential streets, and 20-2 includes approximately 2.1 miles of Municipal State Aid (MSA) streets and 0.2 miles of local streets.
