Street Reconstruction Project 19-1 – 4 miles of residential streets

Work planned for the week of September 30 includes sidewalk construction along the north side of 131^st Avenue between the Coon Creek bridge and Coon Creek Boulevard. Remaining concrete work will be completed throughout the entire phase 3 area (north and south of 131^st Avenue).

Driveway paving, irrigation repairs, and topsoil placement is expected on properties within the phase 3 area located north of 131^st Avenue.

Street Reconstruction Project 19-2 – 2.3 miles of MSA streets (Foley Boulevard from 115^th Avenue to 124^th Avenue, Wedgewood Drive from Main Street to Round Lake Boulevard, Olive Street from 121^st Avenue to Main Street)

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction. The Contractor's main contact is Dan Bodza, who can be reached at 612-248-7760 (cell). Work planned for the week of September 30 includes boulevard restorations on Wedgewood Drive, and potentially paving the final lift of asphalt pavement by the end of next week.

Installation of crosswalks and lane striping is planned for Olive Street on Wednesday, October 2.

Paving of the new asphalt trail on the east side of Foley Boulevard is planned to take place next week. Work will continue all week on the Sand Creek culvert replacements. Foley Boulevard will remain closed to traffic for the foreseeable future as this culvert replacement work continues.

To accommodate the Sand Creek culvert replacements, Foley Boulevard is closed at the Sand Creek crossing south of 118^th Avenue. A posted detour is currently in place from Northdale Boulevard to 121^st Avenue via University Avenue (local access will be maintained).

Street Reconstruction Project 19-3 – 3.3 miles of residential streets

Work during the week of September 30 includes mailbox restorations within the watermain replacement areas of the Phase 1B area (Bridgewater neighborhood consisting of Alder Street, Butternut Street, Cottonwood Street, 116th Avenue, 116th Lane, and 117th Avenue).

Concrete sidewalk and curb replacements are planned for the east side of Springbrook Drive and Holly Street. Asphalt paving is tentatively planned for the northbound lanes of Springbrook Drive by the end of the week.

Grading and preparation for sidewalk replacements is planned for Mississippi Boulevard (Hanson Boulevard to Ibis Street).

Boulevard restorations will continue on Flora Street north of 109^th Lane (adjacent to the Coon Rapids Ice Center).

New concrete sidewalk and curb replacements are planned for the East River Road Service Road between Larch Street and 84^th Lane.

Port Riverwalk Development Project 19-12 – Grading, Erosion Control, and Turf Establishment

Work during the week of September 30 includes continued removals and mass grading for the new Port Riverwalk development. Local traffic will continue to be able to use Zilla Street/East River Boulevard and Egret Boulevard to access Coon Rapids Boulevard.

Anoka County Project – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). The County’s Contractor for this project is C.S McCrossan. Harry Grams is the County’s Construction Supervisor, and can be contacted at 763-324-3114.

Proposed 2020 Projects

Planning for 2020 street reconstruction projects is underway! At the September 3, 2019 City Council meeting, staff recommended two projects: 20-1 consists of approximately 2.6 miles of residential streets, and 20-2 includes approximately 2.1 miles of Municipal State Aid (MSA) streets and 0.2 miles of local streets.
