Street Reconstruction Project 19-1 – 4 miles of residential streets

The Contractor for this project is North Valley, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Herb Thielbar, who can be reached at 763-274-2580 (office) or 612-716-4214 (cell). Work planned for the week of September 16 includes asphalt pavement reclamation on remaining streets within the phase 3 area (streets north of and including 131st Avenue between Crooked Lake Boulevard and Coon Creek Boulevard). Curb patching will also take place in this area. Topsoil, sod installations, and remaining irrigation repairs will occur on neighborhood streets south of 131st Avenue.  

Street Reconstruction Project 19-2 – 2.3 miles of MSA streets (Foley Boulevard from 115th Avenue to 124th Avenue, Wedgewood Drive from Main Street to Round Lake Boulevard, Olive Street from 121st Avenue to Main Street) 

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction. The Contractor's main contact is Dan Bodza, who can be reached at 612-248-7760 (cell). Rene Garcia (612-360-4707) with Park Construction is the Contractor point of contact for watermain pipe replacements. Jon Halter with Hakanson Anderson is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Jon can be reached at 612-282-0725 (cell).

Work planned for the week of September 16 includes continued concrete curb and sidewalk replacements on Wedgewood Drive. Asphalt pavement reclamation is planned for Wedgewood Drive late next week. Final valve and manhole elevation adjustments have been rescheduled for Olive Street. Grading work will continue on the east side of Foley Boulevard for the new trail. Construction of the new Sand Creek culverts under Foley Boulevard will continue all week.

To accommodate the Sand Creek culvert replacements, Foley Boulevard is closed at the Sand Creek crossing south of 118th Avenue. A posted detour is currently in place from Northdale Boulevard to 121st Avenue via University Avenue (local access will be maintained). The closure is expected to last until September 30, weather permitting. 

Street Reconstruction Project 19-3 – 3.3 miles of residential streets 

The Contractor for this project is Douglas-Kerr Underground, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Ryan Kerr, who can be reached at 320-679-8937 (office) or 320-515-0046 (cell). Jason Huebscher is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work during the week of September 16 includes continued boulevard restorations (topsoil placement and irrigation repairs) in the Phase 1B area (Bridgewater neighborhood consisting of Alder Street, Butternut Street, Cottonwood Street, 116th Avenue, 116th Lane, and 117th Avenue).

Asphalt pavement reclamation and utility replacements are planned for the northbound lanes of Springbrook Drive, which includes a traffic switch to the newly constructed southbound lanes. Utility replacements are also planned for Holly Street between 93rd Avenue and Springbrook Drive.

Grading and preparation for new curb installation will continue on Mississippi Boulevard (Hanson Boulevard to Ibis Street). The goal is for new concrete curbs to be installed on this street by the end of next week.

Asphalt paving has been rescheduled for next week on Flora Street north of 109th Lane (adjacent to the Coon Rapids Ice Center). 

Port Riverwalk Development Project 19-12 – Grading, Erosion Control, and Turf Establishment 

The Contractor for this project is North Pine Aggregate. The Contractor's main contact is Jake Jensen, who can be reached at 651-888-7907 (office) or 612-770-6682 (cell). Work during the week of September 16 includes continued removals and mass grading for the new Port Riverwalk development.

Anoka County Project – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). The County’s Contractor for this project is C.S McCrossan. Harry Grams is the County’s Construction Supervisor, and can be contacted at 763-324-3114.
