Street Reconstruction Project 19-1 – 4 miles of residential streets

The Contractor for this project is North Valley, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Herb Thielbar, who can be reached at 763-274-2580 (office) or 612-716-4214 (cell). Work during the week of August 19 will include asphalt pavement reclamation on streets south of 131st Avenue which includes 131st Avenue itself from Coon Creek to Crooked Lake Boulevard. Curb removals will take place on Area 3 streets north of 131st Avenue. Utility work will continue on Area 3 streets south of 131st Avenue. Areas 1 and 2 are complete.

Street Reconstruction Project 19-2 – 2.3 miles of MSA streets (Foley Boulevard from 115th Avenue to 124th Avenue, Wedgewood Drive from Main Street to Round Lake Boulevard, Olive Street from 121st Avenue to Main Street) 

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction. The Contractor's main contact is Dan Bodza, who can be reached at 612-248-7760 (cell). Rene Garcia (612-360-4707) with Park Construction is the Contractor point of contact for watermain pipe replacements. Jon Halter with Hakanson Anderson is the City’s full-time project inspector and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Jon can be reached at 612-282-0725 (cell).

Work planned for the week of August 19 includes curb and gutter installations, grading, and asphalt paving on Olive Street from 123rd Avenue to Main Street. Boulevard restorations on Olive Street will follow curb and asphalt operations. Work on Foley Boulevard will shift to the east side starting next week. Initial east side work includes tree and curb removals. Work on Wedgewood Drive is planned to begin Saturday, August 17. Work on Wedgewood Drive next week includes curb removals and utility (valve and hydrant) replacements.

Replacement of the Sand Creek culverts is planned to begin on September 3. This culvert work will require the closure of Foley Boulevard at the Sand Creek crossing which is located south of 118th Avenue. The closure is expected to last until September 30. Detour and access information will be mailed to area residents. 

 

Street Reconstruction Project 19-3 – 3.3 miles of residential streets 

The Contractor for this project is Douglas-Kerr Underground, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Ryan Kerr, who can be reached at 320-679-8937 (office) or 320-515-0046 (cell). Jason Huebscher is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work during the week of August 19 will include completion of concrete curb in the Phase 1B area where watermain pipe replacements took place (Bridgewater neighborhood consisting of Alder Street, Butternut Street, Cottonwood Street, 116th Avenue, 116th Lane, and 117th Avenue). Grading in preparation for asphalt paving will also take place.
The southbound lanes of Springbrook Drive are planned to be paved with asphalt base course.

Work will continue on the new watermain system on Mississippi Boulevard between Hanson Boulevard and Ibis Street.
On Flora Street north of 109th Lane (adjacent to the Coon Rapids Ice Center), work on the new watermain system will continue.

 

Trail Reconstruction Project 19-9 – Erlandson Park Pedestrian Bridge & Dahlia Park Culvert Installation 

The Contractor for this project is Blackstone Contractors. The Contractor's main contact is Brooks Duesterhoeft, who can be reached at 763-291-7728 (office) or 763-267-9411 (cell). Work during the week of August 19 includes completion of grading and concrete abutment work for the new pedestrian bridge in Erlandson Park near 111th Avenue and Avocet Street. Trail access remains closed in this area.

Trail and culvert work within Dahlia Park will continue next week, which includes grading for the re-aligned trail west of Direct River Drive.

 

Trail Reconstruction Project 19-11 – Wedgewood Trail, Nelson Park Trails, and Trackside Park Trails 

The Contractor for this project is Northwest Asphalt. The Contractor's main contact is John Hamers, who can be reached at 952-445-1003 (office) or 952-292-8471 (cell). This project is substantially complete. 

 

Port Riverwalk Development Project 19-12 – Grading, Erosion Control, and Turf Establishment 

The Contractor for this project is North Pine Aggregate. The Contractor's main contact is Jake Jensen, who can be reached at 651-888-7907 (office) or 612-770-6682 (cell). Work during the week of August 19 includes removals and mass grading for the new development.

Anoka County Project – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). The County’s Contractor for this project is C.S McCrossan. Harry Grams is the County’s Construction Supervisor and can be contacted at 763-324-3114.
