Snowplowing Update for 12-27-18 - written at 10 a.m.
Coon Rapids snowplow crews have been out clearing the City's main roadways since early this morning and crews are also plowing neighborhood streets today. The goal is to get all of the slush off of the roadways before temperatures fall below freezing in the coming days.
Cul-de-sacs will also be fully cleaned. You may have seen large snowplows come through and "ring the cul-de-sac" as the initial first step, and then crews will be back with smaller trucks for additional clean up.
Sidewalks will also be plowed throughout the day.
Our snowplow crews appreciate your help in keeping vehicles out of the streets until the plows have gone by.
Please help our crews if you see blocked storm drains! If storm drains are blocked with leaves or snow, ponding and flooding can occur on streets. If you are out and about and notice the storm drains on your street are blocked, please help our crews by removing the blockage. We appreciate your help!
Winter parking reminder: Winter parking restrictions are now in effect. This means vehicles cannot be parked on the street anytime between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. each night. Parking is also prohibited on public streets anytime there is an accumulation of three inches of snow, or until the street has been plowed from curb-to-curb. Once the snowplow has gone by, and the street has been thoroughly cleaned from curb-to-curb, parking can resume.
Garbage and recycling can rules: Remember when it is your garbage day, please help our snowplow drivers by putting your garbage and recycling carts behind the curb and not in the street. This is required by City Code and it helps to keep the streets free of obstructions so the plow can go by and clean thoroughly, from curb-to-curb.
Please help our snowplow drivers by keeping other obstructions out of the roadway as well such as basketball hoops, hockey nets and other items.
Thanks for your help as our snowplow drivers truly appreciate it when we all work together!
