Warming Houses Won't Open Dec. 21

Outdoor Ice Rinks Won't Open Today

Outdoor ice rinks and warming houses won't be opening today, December 21, 2018 as originally planned. Due to the warm weather in the past week, the outdoor rinks have melted to a point where all of the ice will need to be rebuilt. The rinks and warming houses at Wintercrest, Riverview, Thorpe, and Sand Creek parks will be closed until further notice. City staff will continue to assess the conditions of the rinks and hopefully open the rinks after the New Year. The City will send out further communication when ice rinks are at safe, rebuilt levels.

City staff have been trying to build safe, sustainable ice for the past several weeks, but extremely warm temperatures have made that task difficult.

If the public is looking for a place to go skating, indoor public skating options are available at the Coon Rapids Ice Center, located at 11000 Crooked Lake Blvd. More information about public skating times can be found on the Ice Center website.
