2016 Election Information

The General Election will take place Tuesday, November 8. Polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Find your polling location.

If you are not able to make it to the polls on Election Day, you can vote by absentee ballot. Absentee voting takes place at the Coon Rapids City Center during normal business hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except for Saturday, November 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Monday, November 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The following City Council candidates will be on the ballot for the November 8 General Election:
Ward 1: Brad Greskowiak and Julia Stevens
Ward 2: Bill Kiecker and Greg Leone
Ward 4: Jenny Geisler and Chuck Philipsek
At Large: Steve Wells

2016 Holiday Lighting Contest

Help spread holiday cheer and maybe win a prize at the same time! Enter the Coon Rapids Arts Commission Holiday Lighting Contest! Entries will be judged based on overall impact, visual appeal, uniqueness, variety, safety and tidiness.

Categories
Still – Property (non-moving light display on a house, yard, fence, tree or any combination listed)
Motion – Property (moving light display on a house, yard, fence, tree or any combination listed)
Prizes: $100 - 1^st place in each category
$50 - 2^nd place in each category

More information about the contest guidelines along with an official entry form will be posted on the City’s website by the end of the day Friday, November 18. Judging by members of the Coon Rapids Arts Commission will take place December 16-18. Winners will be notified by members of the commission and announced in the January 2017 Coon Rapids Connection newsletter.

Save the Date! Skate with Santa at the Coon Rapids Ice Center!

Sunday, December 18, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Someone special is coming to the Coon Rapids Ice Center (11000 Crooked Lake Blvd.) on Sunday, December 18! Families are invited to visit with Santa and see some great figure skating at the same time! Take your photo with Santa and have fun skating on the indoor ice rink!

The Coon Rapids Ice Center is also an official Toys for Tots drop-off location! The public is invited to bring toys for donation to this event as well. For every toy donated, receive a coupon for a buy one get one free public skating pass. (Limit three)
