Street Reconstruction Update

2016 Park Redevelopment Projects (Project 15-20)

Woodcrest – Work at Woodcrest is near completion, with the exception of the restroom structure which is anticipated to be installed in September. Due to recent rain, the acrylic coating will be applied on the basketball court next week.

Mason – Work at Mason is near completion, with the exception of the playground structure which has been scheduled for installation at the beginning of August. Due to recent rain, the acrylic coating will be applied on the basketball court next week.

Delta – Trees were planted throughout the park this week, and additional planting of shrubs will occur next week. The picnic shelter is expected to be completed next week, and bituminous trail paving is planned to occur next week as well. The playground structure will be installed in early August.

Pheasant Ridge – The picnic shelter is complete. Miscellaneous seeding and landscaping will occur throughout the park next week. Following landscaping, an acrylic coating will be applied to the basketball court. The playground structure will be installed in early August.

85th Avenue Trail Construction (Project 14-27)

The City has requested ancillary widening of the new trail as it approaches the railroad tracks to reduce the sharp trail curvature, and to create additional buffer space where the trail is located behind the curb and gutter. This work is anticipated to occur next week.

Some re-grading of the ditch between 85th Avenue and the new trail is required, and sealant will be placed on the new retaining wall west of Norway Street. The City is working with the Contractor to obtain a schedule for these items. The trail will remain closed until these final items are complete.

Northdale Boulevard/Redwood Street Signalization (Project 15-15)

The Contractor for this project is Valley Paving, Inc. The Contractor's 24-hour emergency contact is Dan Lorentz at 612-282-2070. This week, the Contractor completed final paving on Northdale Boulevard and at the entrance to Sand Creek Park. Crews are working on placing topsoil today, and will continue to do so next week. Mailboxes should be installed on Wednesday, and pavement markings will be placed Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Signs are expected to be installed on Thursday as well. Restoration activities including seeding and sod placement will follow.

MSA Street Reconstruction (Project 16-1 – Evergreen Boulevard Area)

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction Company. The Contractor's 24-hour emergency contact is Scott Jandrey at 701-389-7390. Work on the permanent watermain system along Evergreen Boulevard from 93rd Avenue to 90th Avenue is planned to begin today, and will continue into the week of July 11. Permanent watermain construction on 90th Avenue is expected to be completed next week.

Paving of 93rd Avenue and Evergreen Boulevard from 93rd Avenue to approximately 300 feet north is planned to begin July 13, and will occur throughout the remainder of the week. Remaining portions of curb and concrete driveways on the north end of Evergreen Boulevard are also planned to be installed next week.

MSA Street Reconstruction (Project 16-2 – Mississippi Boulevard Area)

The Contractor for this project is Forest Lake Contracting, Inc. The Contractor's 24-hour emergency contact is Tim Matteson at 651-248-4708. Crews will complete removals at the intersection of Coon Rapids Boulevard and Mississippi Boulevard on July 11. Work on the permanent watermain system in phase two (Coon Rapids Boulevard to 109th Lane) is expected to be complete by the end of next week.

The Contractor anticipates beginning construction of the temporary watermain system for phase three of the project (109th Lane to Direct River Drive) next week, with the goal of having it complete by Friday. Removals in phase three may begin as early as the week of July 18.

MSA Street Reconstruction (Project 16-3 – Mississippi Drive Area; Segments of Crooked Lake Boulevard/128th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is C.S. McCrossan Construction, Inc. The Contractor's 24-hour emergency contact is Wayne Fluharty at 612-919-3018. Remaining valve and hydrant replacements are scheduled on Crooked Lake Boulevard on July 11; the work may extend into July 12. The Contractor plans to place new curb and gutter on the east side of Crooked Lake Boulevard on July 12 and 13, with driveway work in the area to follow. Concrete work on the west side of Crooked Lake Boulevard may begin as early July 14.

Utility work is anticipated to be complete on 128th Avenue by next Wednesday, and the road will reopen to traffic shortly thereafter. Pavement reclamation on Mississippi Drive may begin next Wednesday as well.

MSA Street Reconstruction (Project 16-4 – Segments of Xeon Street, 113th Avenue/Dogwood Street/115th Avenue, and Egret Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is North Valley, Inc. The Contractor's 24-hour emergency contact is Stewart Packer at 763-286-7341. Curb and gutter installations on Xeon Street are expected to occur next week. All utility and road base work is now complete on Xeon Street, and the road is anticipated to be open to local traffic only throughout the remaining portions of construction as the concrete and asphalt pavement is placed. Thru traffic shall continue to follow posted detours to allow for completion of remaining construction activities.

At Northdale Middle School, installation of new storm sewer pipe is expected to be completed next week, and the Contractor will begin work on the relocation of an existing sanitary sewer system that serves the school. Dogwood Street is planned for pavement reclamation early next week, and storm sewer work will continue along Dogwood Street after the removals.
