2023 Construction is Underway!

A contract was awarded on April 4, 2023, for the City street reconstruction project 23-1. Property owners within this project area have received notification letters with project and schedule information in the US mail. 2023 Street Reconstruction Project 23-1

4.5 miles of residential street reconstruction between 126^th Avenue north to and including 131^st Avenue between Coon Creek Boulevard and Shenandoah Boulevard

The Contractor for this project is Bituminous Roadways Inc. The Contractor’s 24-hour emergency contact is Brandon Bistodeau at 651-358-5082. Property owners can also contact 911 in the event of any emergency. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher, who can be contacted to respond to specific questions or concerns and can be reached at 763-767-6570 (office) or 612-709-2704 (cell).

The Contractor plans to perform work this Saturday, August 5 between 8 am and 6 pm. Saturday work includes topsoil installations in Phases 1 and 2, and manhole adjustments in the Phase 3 area which are required prior to reclamation of the existing asphalt surface.

Work planned for the week of August 7 includes continuation of curb installations within the Phase 3 area, plus completion of remaining intersection valley gutters within Phases 1 and 2 (click here to view the project phasing map). Work on concrete driveways in Phase 3 will follow completion of curb installations in that area. Manhole and valve casting adjustments, required prior to final wear course paving, will take place in the Phase 2 area. Topsoil placements will continue in Phases 2 and 3 throughout the week with sod installation expected to start on Wednesday of next week.

Once the sod is installed, the Contractor will water and maintain for a period of 45 days starting from the date of installation. At the completion of 45 days, the Contractor is required to replace any dead sod. Property owners will be fully responsible for future maintenance of the new boulevard sod after the 45-day maintenance period. To keep your new lawn looking its best, water often, avoid mowing until the new grass is at least three inches long, and cut no more than 1/3 of the grass height.

Pavement Mill & Overlay Project 23-2

Pavement mill & overlay of Robinson Drive from 111^th Avenue north to Hanson Boulevard and Creek Meadow Drive/114^th Avenue from Robinson Drive to Xeon Street

This project is complete.

Northdale Boulevard Watermain Replacement and Mill & Overlay Project 23-10

Replacement of City watermain and pavement mill & overlay on Northdale Boulevard between Quince Street and Ilex Street.

The Contractor for this project is Meyer Contracting Inc. The Contractor’s 24-hour emergency contacts are Rob White at 612-508-4742 (cell) or Todd Gilbertson at 763-288-5211 (cell). Jamie Bresina at 612-413-5757 (cell) can be contacted if there are any issues or concerns with the temporary water system during the project. Property owners can also contact 911 in the event of any emergency. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer, who can be contacted to respond to specific questions or concerns and can be reached at 763-767-6431 (office) or 612-710-8243 (cell).

Work planned for the week of August 7 includes completion of service line replacements for properties along Northdale Boulevard. The Contractor will then work on removal and cleanup of the temporary watermain system, as well as preparing the roadway for new curb and pavement.

Northdale Boulevard is fully closed to thru traffic at this time and will remain so throughout the month of August. Local access will be maintained to properties within the construction area. The marked detour route is via Xeon Street to 121^st Avenue to Foley Boulevard.

Sewer Lining Project 23-3

The lining of 42-inch and 36-inch sanitary sewers along 99^th Avenue from Egret Boulevard west to Hanson Boulevard then north along Hanson Boulevard approximately 400 feet

This project includes lining large-diameter City sewers located along 99^th Avenue and Hanson Boulevard. The work consists of temporarily installing an above-ground sewer by-pass pumping system requiring short-term traffic detours around the work areas. The project will be under construction this summer with completion by the end of August. Pavement and turf restorations will take place in September.

Work planned for the week of August 7 includes removal of the sewer by-pass system pumps and pipes within the project area. The Contractor will then proceed to begin restorations of the street pavements and turf boulevard areas disturbed as part of the project.

Safe Routes to School Project at Coon Rapids High School 22-6

Installation of dynamic speed display signs, activated pedestrian crosswalk signs, and ADA sidewalk improvements at Coon Rapids High School along Northdale Boulevard

The Contractor for this project is Ti-Zack Concrete Inc. Initial work on this project began on June 19, which included sidewalk removals and replacements. Work on the project has since been on hold due material delivery delays associated with the new electronic crosswalk signs. The Contractor expects to install these new signs when they become available which is expected in mid-August. The project is planned to be complete before the 2023-2024 school year begins.
