Sign Up Now!

Sign up today to take part in the Community Police Academy. The free, six-week program runs Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. between January 24 and February 28.

The Community Police Academy offers an opportunity for dialogue between participants and members of the Coon Rapids Police Department while exploring a variety of public safety topics. Discover how the CRPD is structured, go on a ride-along with an officer on patrol, and participate in K9 and DUI demonstrations. Every session delves into a new topic including de-escalation and decision-making techniques, law enforcement tools and technology, and mental health issues. Each week is led by different officers, which gives participants a chance to meet several of those serving their community.

Questions? Contact Community Outreach Officer Tim Morin at 763-767-6472.

Front Door Program Applications Open

Application Deadline: March 1, 2023

Apply Here!

The City is now accepting Front Door grant applications for 2023! Does your home need a facelift? This curb appeal program provides grant money for exterior home improvements. Since the program began in 2019, it has sparked more than $4.9 million dollars worth home enhancement projects throughout the city.

The Front Door Grant Program pays a portion of project costs to Coon Rapids property owners who will make certain exterior improvements to the front (street side) of their home.

Basic Improvement = grant up to 15% of project cost.

  • Examples: siding, roof, windows, soffit/fascia, etc.

Beautification Improvement = grant up to 25% of project cost.

  • Examples: driveways, brick, stone, shakes, covered front porches, landscaping, new front doors/garage doors, etc.

Grant amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000. There are no income limits to participate in this program, but homeowners must pay at least $4,000 of their own funds to receive the minimum grant of $1,000 from the City.

Read the eligibility requirements on the City's website here.

Online applications will be accepted through March 1. A lottery will occur on March 8 to choose applicants to receive a Front Door grant.
