Flu and Pneumonia Shots

At the Senior Center

Cub pharmacists will be providing flu and pneumonia shots by appointment, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Coon Rapids Senior Center. They will have both the high dose and standard flu shots available, as well as the Pneumovax and Prevnar Pneumonia vaccines. There is no charge for a flu shot or pneumonia vaccine if you have traditional Medicare Part B, a Railroad Medicare Card or other selected Medicare HMO plans.

Make an appointment by calling the Senior Center at (763) 767-6473. Don't forget to bring your insurance info to the appointment!

Hearing Screening

Monday, October 24
At the Senior Center

Have you been interested in getting your hearing checked? MN Hearing Aid Professionals, Inc. will be at the Senior Center to provide free 10 minute hearing screenings. They will have a few audiologists and their portable Audiometer to test your hearing.

The Annual Senior Center Bazaar is coming up!

Thursday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Come over to the Senior Center to shop crafts, home décor, the Christmas Shop, bake sale and much more! All proceeds benefit local charities.

Donations Needed For Bazaar

Drop Off Hours: Tuesday, Oct. 25 through Tuesday, Nov. 8
10 a.m. to Noon

New craft items, flea market finds, home décor, holiday decorations and used jewelry are needed! Please drop them off at the Senior Center between the dates listed above. Volunteers will be available to assist you.

Baked goods can be dropped off on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

No clothing or electronics, please.

Halloween Party

Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m.

Enjoy a Spooktacular day with the Goldentone Choir as they perform their mystic music. Lunch will follow "witch" includes lasagna, salad, coffee and dessert. If you wear a costume, you can get your name in a drawing for a Cub gift card!

Call the Senior Center at 763-767-6473 to reserve a spot by Wednesday, October 19. Payment of $10 is due on or before that date.

We love seeing your recent photos from Senior Center trips, events and clubs, so send them on over if you want to share them with us! We will share them via the Senior Facebook and in these weekly emails, and might use them in future promotional materials with the City like our newsletter or Recreation Guide as seen fit.

If you want to share your photos with us, send them to jkrause@coonrapidsmn.gov. Please send them as jpg files.

Health Insurance Counseling

This one-on-one program can assist in helping navigate the process of enrolling in Medicare or supplemental health insurance policies. Sponsored by the Metro Area Agency on Aging and Senior LinkAge Line.

All in person appointments are held at the Coon Rapids Senior Center on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays in Oct, Nov and Dec.

Volunteers Needed!

The Senior Center is looking for volunteer van drivers to take seniors to and from the Senior Center and for grocery trips. We are also looking for individuals to help out on grocery days to load and unload groceries from the bus.

Transportation to the Senior Center

If you need a ride to and from the Senior Center, call us at 763-767-6473. We have volunteer drivers who will transport you.

The cost is $1 each way. We are also doing shopping trips for $3 round trip. See the calendar in our newsletter for dates and places.

To schedule a ride, please call two days in advance. You must be able to get in and out of the van independently. The vehicles are not equipped for wheelchairs. Only available for Coon Rapids residents.

Take one of these every three years if you are 55+ and receive a 10% discount on car insurance if you have previously taken the 8 hour online course. The 8 hour course is online at minnesotasafetycouncil.org.
