2022 Construction is Underway!

2022 Street Reconstruction Project 22-1

4.2 miles of residential streets north of 119^th Avenue and east of Round Lake Boulevard, including streets south of 119^th Avenue south to 117^th Avenue between Kerry Street and Jonquil Street; and the 117^th Lane cul-de-sac east of Northdale Boulevard

The Contractor for this project is Douglas-Kerr Underground, LLC. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-679-8937 (office) or 320-515-0046 (cell). Work is expected to begin in the first phase area of this project (Phase 3 - Wedgewood Drive between Round Lake Boulevard and 119^th Avenue including adjacent side streets) next week, including continued saw-cutting of existing curb and driveways planned for eventual replacement.

Due to existing utility conflicts (Comcast) within the overall phase 3 area of the combined 22-1 and 22-2 projects (Wedgewood Drive between Round Lake Boulevard and 119^th Avenue including all adjacent side streets), the Contractor intends to begin work in the overall combined project phase 4 area (streets north of 119^th Avenue and east of Round Lake Boulevard to 121^st Avenue including 120^th Avenue and Tulip Street) at the beginning of June. This is a change from the original schedule that was mailed to property owners at the beginning of May, which showed phase 4 starting in mid-July. An updated schedule will be mailed to affected properties as well.

Construction will continue in phase 3 per the original mailed schedule; however, the work will be limited primarily to utility and storm sewer pipe replacements. This schedule adjustment will allow Comcast additional time needed in the phase 3 area to relocate its facilities in advance of the street work.

2022 Street Reconstruction Project 22-2

3.6 miles of residential streets north of 119^th Avenue along Zea Street west of Round Lake Boulevard and south of Wedgewood Drive; Zea Street between 119^th Avenue and Blackfoot Street; streets south of 119^th Avenue and north of Coon Rapids Boulevard between Round Lake Boulevard and Silverod Street

Work next week includes continued hydrant and valve replacements in the phase 2 area (streets east of Round Lake Blvd and south of 119^th Avenue). Excess reclaim gravel material will be removed throughout the phase 2 area.

Remaining storm sewer catch basin replacements are now scheduled to be complete in the phase 1 area (Zea Street west of Round Lake Blvd north and south of 119^th Avenue) on Tuesday. Gravel tolerancing will take place on phase 1 streets early to mid-next week, with the goal of paving the first lift of asphalt pavement by the end of next week.

Comcast continues to relocate numerous segments of its buried lines within project 22-2 in advance of the City’s street reconstruction work. This relocation work must take place as many of the existing Comcast buried lines are located directly behind City curbs that need to be replaced. Comcast’s work is expected to be complete in both phase 1 and 2 of this project by the end of next week.
