2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-1 – 3.0 miles of local streets (from 127th Avenue north of 130th Lane between Shenandoah Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard plus Bluebird Circle north of 121st Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is New Look Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Adam Pohlkamp at 320-980-3637. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Zach can be reached at 763-767-6431 (office) or 612-710-8243 (cell).

Next week in Area 2 (streets including 128th Avenue, Nightingale Street, Jay Street, and 129th Lane), crews are scheduled to complete boulevard restorations by Tuesday (8/24). Sod installations will begin late next week.

In Area 3 (streets including 127th Avenue, 127th Lane, 127th Circle, Nightingale Street Cul-de-sac, Killdeer Street, Ibis Street, the remaining section of 128th Avenue not included in Area 2, Grouse Street, and Bluebird Circle), asphalt base pavement installation will take place on Wednesday (8/25). Asphalt driveway restorations in this same area will take place both Thursday and Friday next week (8/26 and 8/27). Boulevard restorations in Area 3 will begin after the asphalt base pavement is placed. Mailboxes will be re-installed in Area 3 next Tuesday (8/24).

Roadway sub-cutting and gravel base tolerancing will continue in Area 3 until Tuesday (8/24). Roads will be congested during this process. Property owners are asked to be patient while the work takes place and allow construction vehicles to safely get out of the way during the work. Access will be interrupted between driveways and certain Area 3 street segments at times, and the specific locations of this work will change throughout the day.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS PLANNING ON FULL DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENTS: If a portion of your driveway apron has been removed as part of the City’s construction project and you are planning to have your own contractor install a full new driveway, please email Zach Pfieffer at zpfieffer@coonrapidsmn.gov with details (property address, timing of installation, etc.). The City will work with you to issue a credit for the work that would have been completed under our project and will direct the City’s Contractor to exclude your driveway apron from its restoration plans.

2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-2 – 3.6 miles of local streets (streets north of Coon Rapids Boulevard between Flamingo and Jay Streets north to 106th Avenue, Eagle Street to Avocet Street south of Egret Boulevard, and the neighborhood off Foley Boulevard between 95th and 97th Lanes)

Work next week includes boulevard sod installations in phase 2 of Area 1 (streets including Hummingbird Street, 104th Avenue, Ibis Street, Jay Street, and 106th Avenue).
In Area 2 (streets east of Egret Blvd known as Egret Estates), work will include asphalt pavement reclamation on Monday, August 23. Once the streets in this area are reclaimed, the Contractor will work on preparing the gravel base for new asphalt. Some drain tile installations will take place in this project area next week as well. Curb and concrete removals will take place immediately following asphalt pavement reclamation. New curb installations will begin in Area 2 by late next week.

Asphalt base paving is now planned in Area 3 (streets east of Foley Boulevard and north of TH 610 up to 97th Lane) for the week of August 30. The Contractor will continue preparing the roadway surface in this area next week for asphalt paving.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS PLANNING ON FULL DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENTS: If a portion of your driveway apron has been removed as part of the City’s construction project and you are planning to have your own contractor install a full new driveway, please email Jason Huebscher at jhuebscher@coonrapidsmn.gov with details (property address, timing of installation, etc.).
