Coon Rapids Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation Project 18-13A

This pedestrian bridge is located northwest of the intersection of Coon Rapids Boulevard and Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension just southeast of Zilla Street. This project is now substantially complete. The City will repaint the metal bridge railings, bollards, banner poles, bike racks, and benches located in this area under a separate contract within the next few weeks.

The Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is currently rehabilitating its lift station (L34) adjacent to this City-owned pedestrian bridge along Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension. 2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-1 – 3.0 miles of local streets (from 127^th Avenue north of 130^th Lane between Shenandoah Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard plus Bluebird Circle north of 121^st Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is New Look Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Adam Pohlkamp at 320-980-3637. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work next week includes installation of new concrete curb and gutter in Area 2 (streets including 128^th Avenue, Nightingale Street, Jay Street, and 129^th Lane) beginning on July 6. This process will take place throughout the entire week. Residents will be required to park on the street for 5-7 days after the concrete is placed to allow the new curb to properly cure. Parking will be limited to one side of the street only during the concrete curing phase.

Work is tentatively planned to begin in Area 3 (streets including 127^th Avenue, 127^th Lane, 127^th Circle, Nightingale Street Cul-de-sac, Killdeer Street, Ibis Street, the remaining section of 128^th Avenue not included in Area 2, Grouse Street, and Bluebird Circle) during the week of July 12. Initial work will include water valve and hydrant replacements, which will require daytime water shutdowns. Water shut off notices will be provided to Area 3 property owners 24 hours in advance of the shutdown. Watch for door hanger notices distributed late the week of July 6.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS PLANNING ON FULL DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENTS:
If a portion of your driveway apron has been removed as part of the City’s construction project and you are planning to have your own contractor install a full new driveway, please email Zach Pfieffer at zpfieffer@coonrapidsmn.gov with details (property address, timing of installation, etc.). The City will work with you to issue a credit for the work that would have been completed under our project and will direct the City’s Contractor to exclude your driveway apron from its restoration plans.

2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-2 – 3.6 miles of local streets (streets north of Coon Rapids Boulevard between Flamingo and Jay Streets north to 106^th Avenue, Eagle Street to Avocet Street south of Egret Boulevard, and the neighborhood off Foley Boulevard between 95^th and 97^th Lanes)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of July 6 includes completion of remaining permanent water service connections on 106^th Avenue in phase 2 of Area 1. Curb removals will also take place throughout phase 2 of Area 1 (streets including Hummingbird Street, 104^th Avenue, Ibis Street, Jay Street, and 106^th Avenue). Preparation for topsoil and sod placement will continue throughout phase 1 of Area 1 (streets including Flamingo Street, Grouse Street, Hummingbird Street, and 104^th Avenue). New curb installation is tentatively planned for phase 2 of Area 2 the week of July 12 and 19.

Work in Area 3 (streets east of Foley Boulevard and north of TH 610 up to 97^th Lane) next week includes permanent watermain installations along streets including 97^th Lane, 97^th Avenue, Flintwood Street and a portion of 95^th Lane.
