Coon Rapids Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation Project 18-13A

This pedestrian bridge is located northwest of the intersection of Coon Rapids Boulevard and Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension just southeast of Zilla Street. This project is now substantially complete. Minor work will take place next week to seal the new paint application on the bridge. The City will repaint the metal bridge railings, bollards, banner poles, bike racks, and benches located in this area under a separate contract within the next few weeks.

The Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is currently rehabilitating its lift station (L34) adjacent to this City-owned pedestrian bridge along Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension. 2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-1 – 3.0 miles of local streets (from 127^th Avenue north of 130^th Lane between Shenandoah Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard plus Bluebird Circle north of 121^st Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is New Look Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Adam Pohlkamp at 320-980-3637. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work next week in area 1 (streets in the northwest corner of Shenandoah Oaks including 128^th Lane, 129^th Lane, 130^th Lane, Nightingale Street, Martin Street, and Linnet Street) includes permanent mailbox installations and topsoil placement in boulevard areas.

Utility replacements will continue in area 2 (streets including 128^th Avenue, Nightingale Street, Jay Street, and 129^th Lane) all next week. Please note this work includes daytime water shut downs – please watch for door hanger notices provided by the Contractor in advance of daily water shut downs.

ATTENTION RESIDENTS PLANNING ON FULL DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENTS:
If a portion of your driveway apron has been removed as part of the City’s construction project and you are planning to have your own contractor install a full new driveway, please email Zach Pfieffer at zpfieffer@coonrapidsmn.gov with details (property address, timing of installation, etc.). The City will work with you to issue a credit for the work that would have been completed under our project and will direct the City’s Contractor to exclude your driveway apron from its restoration plans.

2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-2 – 3.6 miles of local streets (streets north of Coon Rapids Boulevard between Flamingo and Jay Streets north to 106^th Avenue, Eagle Street to Avocet Street south of Egret Boulevard, and the neighborhood off Foley Boulevard between 95^th and 97^th Lanes)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of June 14 includes concrete curb and gutter installations on Flamingo, Grouse, and Hummingbird Streets in phase 1 of Area 1. Overnight parking will be limited next week to one side of the street during the concrete curing process. Minor storm sewer work will also take place on Grouse and Hummingbird Streets.

Mainline watermain installations will take place on Ibis and Jay Streets within phase 2 of Area 1 (Ibis Street, Jay Street, 106^th Avenue and 104^th Avenue from Hummingbird to Jay Street). Some tree removals are also planned along 104^th Avenue.

Work will begin next week in Area 3 (streets east of Foley Boulevard and north of TH 610 up to 97^th Lane). This includes traffic control set up, and asphalt pavement reclamation over half the street width in Area 3 watermain pipe replacement areas.

The Contractor plans to begin work in area 3 (streets south and east of Foley Boulevard and north of TH 610) on June 14 – this is a change from the schedule sent to property owners April 26, 2021. Notices were sent to property owners via US mail informing of this schedule change (also available at www.coonrapidsmn.gov/2021projects).
