Coon Rapids Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge Rehabilitation Project 18-13A
This pedestrian bridge is located northwest of the intersection of Coon Rapids Boulevard and Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension just southeast of Zilla Street. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to the City of Coon Rapids Project Manager, Mark Hansen, who can be reached at 763-767-6465.
The City’s Contractor, Redstone Construction, will continue work on this bridge rehabilitation project during the week of June 1. Project work includes bridge concrete repairs, drainage improvements, and bridge repainting. The adjacent trail will continue to be closed to all pedestrian traffic during this work. In addition, the City will repaint the metal bridge railings, bollards, banner poles, bike racks, and benches located in this area. All work is expected to be complete by June 2021.
The Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) is currently rehabilitating its lift station (L34) adjacent to this City-owned pedestrian bridge along Coon Rapids Boulevard Extension. 2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-1 – 3.0 miles of local streets (from 127th Avenue north of 130th Lane between Shenandoah Boulevard and Hanson Boulevard plus Bluebird Circle north of 121st Avenue)
The Contractor for this project is New Look Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Adam Pohlkamp at 320-980-3637. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work for the week of June 1 includes paving of the asphalt base layer throughout area 1 (streets in the northwest corner of Shenandoah Oaks including 128th Lane, 129th Lane, 130th Lane, Nightingale Street, Martin Street, and Linnet Street) on June 3. Notifications will be distributed for the paving operations to area 1 property owners on June 2. Boulevard restorations will begin in area 1 shortly after the paving work is complete. Utility work including valve and hydrant replacements are expected to begin in area 2 (streets including 128th Avenue, Nightingale Street, Jay Street, and 129th Lane) during the week of June 7.
ATTENTION RESIDENTS PLANNING ON FULL DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENTS: If a portion of your driveway apron has been removed as part of the City’s construction project and you are planning to have your own contractor install a full new driveway, please email Zach Pfieffer at zpfieffer@coonrapidsmn.gov with details (property address, timing of installation, etc.). The City will work with you to issue a credit for the work that would have been completed under our project and will direct the City’s Contractor to exclude your driveway apron from its restoration plans.

2021 Street Reconstruction Project 21-2 – 3.6 miles of local streets (streets north of Coon Rapids Boulevard between Flamingo and Jay Streets north to 106th Avenue, Eagle Street to Avocet Street south of Egret Boulevard, and the neighborhood off Foley Boulevard between 95th and 97th Lanes)
The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher, who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of June 1 includes completion of temporary watermains and service connections on Ibis and Jay Streets in phase 2 of area 1 (Ibis Street, Jay Street, 106th Avenue and 104th Avenue from Hummingbird to Jay Street). Permanent water service connections will be reestablished on Flamingo, Grouse, and Hummingbird Streets in phase 1 of area 1. Reclamation of the remaining portions of Flamingo, Grouse, and Hummingbird Streets will take place on Thursday and Friday next week. Notices for asphalt pavement reclamation will be distributed the day before this work takes place.
Work may begin within the watermain replacement portions of area 3 (streets south and east of Foley Boulevard and north of TH 610) as soon as the week of June 14.
