Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to Mark Hansen, City of Coon Rapids Project Manager and City Engineer. Mark can be reached at 763-767-6465. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

Final permanent striping is planned for installation on Saturday, September 26. Remaining miscellaneous turf establishment is planned for next week. This project will be considered substantially complete for work planned in 2020 by the end of the week of September 28. The Contractor plans to install trees associated with the landscaping portion of this project over the next few weeks. Median irrigation and miscellaneous remaining landscaping will be completed in the spring of 2021.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Final cleanup including signing and striping, as well as asphalt pavement joint sawing and sealing, will take place in Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89^th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86^th Avenue) within the next few weeks.

The final lift of asphalt pavement wear course is planned in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109^th and 111^th Avenue, 109^th Lane, and Xeon Street) for the week of October 5.

In Area 3 (97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street), remaining concrete valley gutters, sidewalks, and miscellaneous concrete installations will take place. Topsoil will also be placed in the boulevard areas.

Work planned in the Autumn Knolls neighborhood (Area 2 – Norway Street near 107^th Lane and 108^th Lane) includes completion of remaining watermain service installations on 108^th Lane. Curb installations will take place on Kumquat Street and 107^th Lane.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of September 28 includes continued boulevard restorations and remaining concrete work along Crooked Lake Boulevard.

Work on Riverdale Drive will include concrete curb installations, and new sidewalk construction will take place on Northdale Boulevard. Excess reclaim material remaining on Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard will be removed next week to prepare for asphalt paving.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-3 – 2.3 University Avenue north of Main Street (City of Blaine Project)

This project is being administered by the City of Blaine. The Contractor for this project is Dresel Contracting. Project contact information and schedule will be sent via US Mail and posted on the City of Coon Rapids website once available. If property owners have questions regarding the construction process and schedule, please contact Stefan Higgins at 763-717-2722 at the City of Blaine, or Mark Hansen at 763-767-6465 at the City of Coon Rapids.

This project is substantially complete. New street signs will be installed within the next few weeks.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). Chris Osterhus is the County’s Construction Supervisor and can be contacted at 763-324-3189.
