Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split 

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to Mark Hansen, City of Coon Rapids Project Manager and City Engineer. Mark can be reached at 763-767-6465. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

Work next week includes asphalt patching along the north and southbound Coon Rapids Boulevard median. Ancillary bridge repairs are anticipated to wrap up within the next week.

The major mill and overlay work for all north and southbound through and turn lanes of Coon Rapids Boulevard throughout the project corridor is expected to begin next week and be completed by late Saturday, September 19.   

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue) 

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Jason can be reached at 763-767-6570 (office) or 612-709-2704 (cell).

Work planned for the week of September 14 includes completion of sod installations by late Tuesday in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109th and 111th Avenue, 109th Lane, and Xeon Street). Topsoil placement will take place in this area on Saturday, September 12. Final wear course pavement is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 21.

Miscellaneous concrete and cleanup work will carry over into next week in Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86th Avenue). Final wear course pavement is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 21.

In Area 3 (97th Avenue near Yellowpine Street), placement of the asphalt base course is now planned for early next week.   

Work planned in the Autumn Knolls neighborhood (Area 2 – Norway Street near 107th Lane and 108th Lane) includes continued watermain and water service installations on 107th Lane and Norway Street. Work will take place on Kumquat Street which includes storm sewer installations, pavement reclamation, and roadway grading. 

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard) 

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Zach can be reached at 763-767-6431 (office) or 612-710-8243 (cell).

Work planned for the week of September 14 includes completion of concrete sidewalks, driveways, and medians on Crooked Lake Boulevard. Work on Riverdale Drive is planned to shift to the south and east sides – this includes pavement reclamation and curb removals. The Contractor may begin work next week on valve and hydrant replacements on the east side of Riverdale Drive.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-3 – 2.3 University Avenue north of Main Street (City of Blaine Project) 

This project is being administered by the City of Blaine. The Contractor for this project is Dresel Contracting. Project contact information and schedule will be sent via US Mail and posted on the City of Coon Rapids website once available. If property owners have questions regarding the construction process and schedule, please contact Stefan Higgins at 763-717-2722 at the City of Blaine, or Mark Hansen at 763-767-6465 at the City of Coon Rapids. 

This project is substantially complete. The final lift of asphalt pavement and miscellaneous punchlist items will take place over the next few weeks.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). Chris Osterhus is the County’s Construction Supervisor and can be contacted at 763-324-3189.
