Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to Mark Hansen, City of Coon Rapids Project Manager and City Engineer. Mark can be reached at 763-767-6465. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

Roadway work next week includes completion of new concrete curb and gutters in the median areas of north and southbound Coon Rapids Boulevard south of Zilla Street. Irrigation installations for landscaping will also start next week. Work on the new concrete median barriers from the Coon Rapids Boulevard bridge to the north are now planned to start next week. Work on the retaining wall system adjacent to Lilli Putt will continue all next week.

Bridge rehabilitation work in both the north and southbound directions of Coon Rapids Boulevard over the BNSF railroad tracks and East River Road is now complete.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of August 17 includes completion of sod installations in Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89^th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86^th Avenue).

Asphalt paving is planned for next Thursday in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109^th and 111^th Avenue, 109^th Lane, and Xeon Street).

In Area 3 (97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street), work will include roadway grading to prepare for new curb and gutter installations to take place the following week.

Work planned in the Autumn Knolls neighborhood (Area 2 – Norway Street near 107^th Lane and 108^th Lane) includes continued progress on the temporary and permanent watermain systems.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of August 17 includes sod restorations on 113^th Avenue.

Work on Crooked Lake Boulevard next week includes completion of storm sewer construction and roadway base grading.

Grading for the new sidewalk to be located on the west side of Riverdale Drive will continue throughout the week.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-3 – 2.3 University Avenue north of Main Street (City of Blaine Project)

This project is being administered by the City of Blaine. The Contractor for this project is Dresel Contracting. Project contact information and schedule will be sent via US Mail and posted on the City of Coon Rapids website once available. Work planned for University Avenue during the week of August 17 includes boulevard restorations.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)
