Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to Mark Hansen, City of Coon Rapids Project Manager and City Engineer. Mark can be reached at 763-767-6465. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

Bridge rehabilitation work in both the north and southbound directions of Coon Rapids Boulevard over the BNSF railroad tracks and East River Road will continue. A full closure of northbound East River Road at Coon Rapids Boulevard to accommodate bridge repairs will take place between late July 10 (Friday) to early July 13 (Monday).

Roadway work next week includes continued concrete sidewalk and pedestrian curb ramp construction in the north and southbound directions of Coon Rapids Boulevard. Completion of topsoil placement and seeding for boulevard restorations are also planned for these areas.

Additional pavement construction is also expected in the southbound direction of Coon Rapids Boulevard. Only one lane of travel will be open in the southbound direction next week as this work is completed.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of July 13 includes completion of curb and roadway grading for Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89^th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86^th Avenue). Paving of the first lift of asphalt pavement is expected in Area 4 by the end of next week. Work in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109^th and 111^th Avenue, 109^th Lane, and Xeon Street) will continue to be temporarily on hold as CenterPoint Energy continues work on its gas line replacements in this area. Work will continue all next week on the permanent watermain system and services in Area 3 (97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street).

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of July 13 includes roadway grading on 113^th Avenue and curb installations. Permanent watermain system construction will take place all next week on Crooked Lake Boulevard.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-3 – 2.3 University Avenue north of Main Street (City of Blaine Project)

This project is being administered by the City of Blaine. The Contractor for this project is Dresel Contracting. Project contact information and schedule will be sent via US Mail and posted on the City of Coon Rapids website once available. Work planned for University Avenue during the week of July 13 includes storm sewer construction. Pavement reclamation and curb removals are scheduled for the week of July 20.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)
