Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Please direct all questions and concerns regarding this construction project to the City of Coon Rapids Project Manager and City Engineer, Mark Hansen. Mark can be reached at 763-767-6465. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons, Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller.

Work next week includes asphalt paving on the northbound side of Coon Rapids Boulevard. Additional paving and road section work is also expected in the southbound Coon Rapids Boulevard direction.

Bridge rehabilitation work in both the north and southbound directions of Coon Rapids Boulevard over the BNSF railroad tracks and East River Road will continue. A future closure of northbound East River Road to accommodate bridge repairs is planned between late July 10 (Friday) to early July 13 (Monday).

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107th and 108th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111th Avenue)

The Contractor for this project is Northdale Construction. The Contractor’s main contact is Kevin Topp at 320-493-7369. The City’s full-time project inspector is Jason Huebscher who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of June 29 includes curb removals and temporary watermain setup in Area 3 (97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street). Drain tile installations and curb replacements are planned for Area 4 (streets east of East River Road – 89^th Avenue, Norway Street, and 86^th Avenue). Asphalt pavement reclamation is expected to take place in Area 4 on July 6 (Monday).

Work in Area 1 (Avocet Street, 109^th and 111^th Avenue, 109^th Lane, and Xeon Street) will temporarily be on hold as CenterPoint Energy continues work on its gas line replacements in this area.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

The Contractor for this project is Douglas Kerr Underground. The Contractor’s main contact is Ryan Kerr at 320-515-0046. The City’s full-time project inspector is Zach Pfieffer who can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Work planned for the week of June 29 includes removal of gravel and topsoil materials and installation of the temporary water system on Crooked Lake Boulevard. New water service installations are planned for 113^th Avenue.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-3 – 2.3 University Avenue north of Main Street (City of Blaine Project)

This project is being administered by the City of Blaine. The Contractor for this project is Dresel Contracting. Project contact information and schedule will be sent via US Mail and posted on the City of Coon Rapids website once available. If property owners have questions regarding the construction process and schedule, please contact Stefan Higgins at 763-717-2722 at the City of Blaine, or Mark Hansen at 763-767-6465 at the City of Coon Rapids.

Work planned for the week of June 29 includes valve and hydrant replacements which are currently scheduled for Tuesday, June 30. This work shall include temporary daytime water shut offs between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Residents affected by water shut offs will be notified in advance of the work.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)

Hanson Boulevard is a County road in Coon Rapids (north of Coon Rapids Boulevard). Chris Osterhus is the County’s Construction Supervisor and can be contacted at 763-324-3189.
