Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Boulevard from Egret Boulevard to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Boulevard Split
Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. Work planned for the week of June 1 includes the continued full closure of Egret Boulevard south of Coon Rapids Boulevard. The closure of Egret Boulevard is expected to continue all next week as the Contractor places new curb and gutter and asphalt pavement on the street. Avocet Street is expected to reopen late May 29, however will need to close again mid-next week to accommodate proposed curb and gutter on the Port Riverwalk development project. This street will reopen again to traffic by late next week.
Work will continue in the southbound Coon Rapids Boulevard direction, which includes new curb installations. Grading for new curb and widened pavement in the Northbound Coon Rapids Boulevard direction will take place all next week. Bridge rehabilitation work in both the north and southbound directions of Coon Rapids Boulevard over the BNSF railroad tracks and East River Road will continue.
