Some City Facilities Reopen to Public
Coon Rapids City Hall (11155 Robinson Drive) and the Public Works building (1831 111th Ave.) opened to the public this week after being closed due to the Governor’s Stay at Home Executive Order. Visitors to all City facilities will notice added measures in place to lessen the spread of the Coronavirus which include:
- Signage on front entry doors, reminding individuals to not enter buildings if they are ill
- Hand sanitizer placed at every entrance and service window
- New public service areas featuring plexi-glass dividers between staff and visitors
- Social distancing signage in service areas and on the floor to assist with proper spacing as it relates to waiting in line for services
Visitors to City buildings are also strongly encouraged to wear a face mask if possible.
For people seeking answers to general questions, it is preferred to call and talk to staff first before stopping in person to City Hall. Many questions can be answered through a phone call or by visiting the City’s website. For business that needs to be conducted in-person and is more involved in nature, or needs more discussion, please call ahead and set up an appointment with the appropriate staff person. These measures are being put in place to ensure social distancing, lessen the potential spread of the virus and adapt to changing conditions as it relates to City staff members working both in the office and in the field (or remotely). We thank the public for planning ahead for what they may need. Please call 763-755-2880 with your questions or visit the City website.
City Hall is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Public Works is open Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Coon Rapids Recycling Center reopened May 5 to a limited schedule. Visitors are encouraged to check the Recycling Center website before visiting the facility to know the current schedule.
The Coon Rapids Ice Center, Coon Rapids Civic Center and Coon Rapids Senior Center remain closed until further notice. The Senior Center will likely be the last facility to reopen; decisions for reopening will be based upon public health recommendations for large group settings.
