Construction season is underway!

Contracts are anticipated to be awarded May 5, 2020 for City street reconstruction projects, and property owners within project areas 20-1 and 20-2 will receive notification letters with project and schedule information by mid-May. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, City staff and the project Contractor will not hold public neighborhood meetings this May in advance of street reconstruction work commencing. Schedules, frequently asked questions, and City/Contractor contact information will be mailed to all affected property owners via USPS. Project-specific contact information will be contained within the mailing.

Coon Rapids Boulevard Reconstruction Project 18-13 – Reconstruction of Coon Rapids Blvd from Egret Blvd to the East River Road/Coon Rapids Blvd Split

Coon Rapids Boulevard is an Anoka County Highway Department owned and maintained roadway, however this reconstruction project is being led by the City of Coon Rapids. All questions and concerns regarding this construction project shall be directed to the City of Coon Rapids Project Manager. The Contractor for this project is S.M. Hentges & Sons Inc. The Contractor's main contact is Joe Miller. The City Project Manager is City Engineer Mark Hansen, who can be reached at 763-767-6465 with any specific questions or concerns.

Work during the week of April 20 included preparation for temporary signal system installations at Avocet Street and Coon Rapids Boulevard. In addition, a new permanent storm sewer pipe connection was constructed across the northbound Coon Rapids Boulevard traffic lanes just north of Avocet Street.

Work planned for the week of April 27 includes pavement and curb removals in the southbound Coon Rapids Boulevard thru lanes. Work on the temporary signal system installation will continue at Avocet Street.

2019 Street Reconstruction Project 19-2 – 2.3 miles of MSA streets (Foley Boulevard from 115^th Avenue to 124^th Avenue, Wedgewood Drive from Main Street to Round Lake Boulevard, Olive Street from 121^st Avenue to Main Street)

The Contractor for this project is Park Construction. The Contractor's main contact is Dan Bodza, who can be reached at 612-248-7760 (cell). Jon Halter with Hakanson Anderson is the City’s full-time project inspector, and can be contacted any time to respond to specific questions or concerns. Jon can be reached at 612-282-0725 (cell).

Work on miscellaneous punchlist items was originally planned to begin the week of April 13, but was delayed due to colder than normal temperatures. Work will start as soon as temperatures are feasible. Initial work will include grouting manhole structures.

Please contact the City if there are any ongoing issues with irrigation systems or other items that need to be addressed on these streets.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-1 – 2.6 miles of local City streets (streets near Norway Street and East River Road, 97^th Avenue near Yellowpine Street, Norway Street near 107^th and 108^th Lane, and Avocet Street near 111^th Avenue)

Bids were opened on April 17 for this project. The low bid Contractor was Northdale Construction. A contract for construction is expected to be awarded at the May 5^th City Council meeting. Schedule information, frequently asked questions, and project contact information will be provided via US mail within the next few weeks. Work on this project is expected to start by mid to late May.

2020 Street Reconstruction Project 20-2 – 2.3 miles of local and MSA streets (streets near 113^th Avenue and Crooked Lake Boulevard, Crooked Lake Boulevard north of Northdale Boulevard to Gladiola Street, and Riverdale Drive and Northdale Boulevard)

Bids were opened on April 20 for this project. The low bid Contractor was Douglas Kerr Underground. A contract for construction is expected to be awarded at the May 5^th City Council meeting. Schedule information, frequently asked questions, and contact information will be provided via US mail within the next few weeks. Work on this project is expected to start by mid to late May.

Anoka County Projects – Hanson Boulevard (CSAH 78) Railroad Bridge Overpass, and Hanson Boulevard from Northdale Boulevard (CSAH 11) to Main Street (CSAH 14)
