Large storage containers outside the recycling center

*NEW* Everyday Drop Off

Appliances, electronics & mattresses

You can now drop off appliances, electronics and mattresses every day the facility is open! Due to changes for 2020 at the recycling center, there will no longer be special drop-off event days.

These items will be stored in temporary storage containers. As you enter the recycling center, follow the road to the far side of the lot. Look for the enclosed roll-off containers (pictured). All drop-offs are self-serve. Step-by-step directions are posted at the facility.

A funding request has been made to the state legislature for a proposed expansion of the recycling facility. If approved, the goal is to have a permanent building to house these large items.

Would You Like the Recycling Center Expanded?

Funding requested from the state legislature

The Coon Rapids Recycling Center is exploring the possibility of expanding the current facility to better serve residents and become a large recycling "hub" for Styrofoam in the state.

The plan is currently in the development process. Recycling staff is working with the State Legislature to secure funding through the Capital Assistance Program (CAP) in 2020. CAP funding would pay for half of the cost ($316,000); the City of Coon Rapids would fund the other half ($316,000).

If you use the recycling center and support this project, you can help by contacting your local legislators to express support for the project.
