The City is restructuring water rates to keep the water fund self-sustaining for years to come.
Last year, a water utility rate study determined that changes in the rate structure were needed to protect the future stability of our most critical infrastructure. Prior to 2022, there had not been a rate increase since 2016, and Coon Rapids has not significantly changed the utility rate structure since 2009.
Rate changes include new fixed rates (service charges) for all users, plus, the addition of new tiers that will determine usage fees. Residential and multi-family tiers are structured differently than tiers for commercial, industrial and institutional properties.
