Snowplow Updates

Cleanup Operations to Begin Friday at 4:30 a.m.

Snowplow crews will begin cleanup operations of all City-maintained streets beginning at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24th. This is the third significant plow operation this week, as they conducted full plows early Wednesday and Thursday morning.

Starting early Friday morning, plows will cover all main streets, residential streets and cul-de-sac areas maintained by the City. The primary focus is on clean up following the previous full plow operations. The process takes several hours to complete.

Crews will also work into the weekend clearing sidewalks and trails. The goal is to clear sidewalks and trails by end of day Saturday.

Please remember, there is no overnight street parking allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m., all winter long. Keeping vehicles, garbage cans and other items out of the street will help crews achieve the most thorough cleanup possible.

We will provide additional snowplow updates if or when another full plow is scheduled.

You can also call the Snowplow Hotline at 763-755-2880 (select menu option 3) or sign up for email updates here.

Fire Hydrants

  • It is the responsibility of all residents to remove snow from fire hydrants nearest to their home.
  • Clear a path three feet around the hydrant.
  • This is for the safety of you and your property. Cleared hydrants reduce response time in the event of an emergency, so that first responders do not have to shovel out the hydrant before firefighting operations can begin.
  • If you or your neighbors are unable to clear your hydrant, you may request assistance from a group of community volunteers by filling out this online form.
  • Volunteers make every attempt to address each request, but can not be guaranteed. City staff also attempts to help clear hydrants when they are able.
  • Can you help? The community volunteers are always looking for more helpers! If you are willing to volunteer to help shovel hydrants for those who are unable please sign up here.

Winter Parking Rules

  • No street parking between 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. each night.
  • No street parking anytime of day or night when there is an accumulation of three inches of snow or more, until the street has been plowed from curb-to-curb.
  • Parking can only resume after a snowplow has gone by and the street has been thoroughly cleaned from curb-to-curb.
  • Winter parking restrictions are always in effect Nov. 1-April 1.
  • If a vehicle is blocking the path of a snowplow, the vehicle owner could receive a ticket or the car could be towed.

Garbage & Recycling Bins

  • Please keep garbage and recycling carts out of the street, behind the curb.
  • City Code requires streets remain free of obstructions so the plow can go by and clean thoroughly.
  • Other obstructions must be out of the roadway as well, including basketball hoops, hockey nets and other items.
