The City of Coon Rapids is bringing back its popular curb appeal program for a third year. The Front Door Grant Program provides grant money for exterior enhancements made to homes. The program first launched in 2019 and after an overwhelming response in both years it has been offered, the City of Coon Rapids is providing funds again in 2021 for the program. The intent of the Front Door Grant Program is to pay a portion of project costs to Coon Rapids property owners who will make certain exterior improvements to the front (street side) of their home. These improvements increase curb appeal, which benefits the entire community.
Basic Improvement = grant up to 15% of project cost
Examples: siding, roof, windows, soffit/fascia, etc.
Beautification improvement = grant up to 25% of project cost
Examples: driveways, brick, stone, shakes, covered front porches, landscape, new front doors/garage doors, etc. Grant amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000.
There are no income limits to participate in this program, but homeowners must pay at least $4,000 of their own funds to receive the minimum grant of $1,000 from the City.
Read the eligibility requirements on the City’s website.
Online applications will be accepted now through March 1, 2021. A lottery will occur on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 to choose applicants who will receive a Front Door grant (event may take virtually or in-person depending on current public health guidelines at the time).
