We are proud of our city, its parks and trails, business community, family friendly residential areas and most of all the residents who take an active role in community life. The City of Coon Rapids invites you to become involved in the community by participating in any of the many different services organizations including the Rotary, Lions Clubs, City commissions and more! To stay informed about city news, events and other information, be sure to read the Coon Rapids Connection newsletter, mailed to all homes and businesses quarterly. You can also sign up for "Notify Me", the City's email notification system. You can set up your personal account and select the topics about which you would like to receive news and brief updates.

Cable Television, Internet and Phone: 

Xfinity (Comcast) provides cable television service as well as internet and phone. This company is a franchise operator in our City. Franchise fees paid by Xfinity help to pay for local cable channels 14, 15, 16, 19 and HD 859 through CTN, the Coon Rapids Community Television Network. Residents are able to stay informed by watching City Council and Planning Commission meetings, local news, sports and other entertainment programming specific to Coon Rapids and the Anoka County area on CTN.

Other companies are also available to residents for television, internet and phone and can be found on an individual basis.

Electrical Service:

Xcel Energy- Provides electricity to the area south of Burlington Northern tracks and Thompson Heights 3rd and 4th Addition. Connexus Energy services electricity needs north of the BN tracks. There are a few homes in the western city limits serviced by the City of Anoka.

Garbage and Recycling Collection:

Homeowners arrange for their own garbage service. See the list of licensed garbage haulers here. Haulers are required to provide a recycling container.

Natural gas:

Natural Gas for all of Coon Rapids is provided by CenterPoint Energy.

Water and Sewer:

Contact the City for sewer and water information by email or call 763-767-6438. Coon Rapids utilizes radio read meters and bills are mailed to homeowners quarterly.
