Ice Skating

Coon Rapids offers many skating options within its park system. There are currently 5 regulation outdoor hockey rinks and 4 open skating rinks available. Rinks are maintained daily with a routine schedule of ice shaving, sweeping, snow removal, and flooding as weather conditions permit.

***UPDATE ON 1/25/24: Due to deteriorating ice conditions, all rinks and warming houses are CLOSED until further notice.

Warming House Hours of Operation are typically:

Monday through Friday: 5 to 9 p.m.
Saturday and school closure days: 1 to 9 p.m.
Sunday 1 to 6 p.m.
(buildings are closed on holidays)
Mid-December through Mid-February (weather permitting)

***Please note: if you are at a warming house during open hours and the building is closed, it may be due to a staffing shortage. Portable restrooms and benches are available for public use at all outdoor ice rinks.

Warming houses and ice rinks are closed if cold temperatures become extreme. Closure occurs when temperatures reach -5 or -20 wind chill. This is also the same closure standard for the outdoor rink at the Coon Rapids Ice Center.
