Foley Boulevard is now closed in both directions to thru traffic from Egret Boulevard to Northdale Boulevard. This went into effect Tuesday, March 7. The road will remain open for local traffic, emergency vehicles and for accessibility to area businesses. See a detour map of the area.
The recommended detour route for thru traffic is Northdale Boulevard, University Avenue and Egret Boulevard. See a detour map on the City website. The tentative ending date for this road closure to thru traffic is Saturday, July 1, 2017 (weather permitting). This road project is being managed by the Anoka County Highway Department. The County’s contractor will be working in the area for the next several months, with a goal of substantially completing the project by November. To view updates on this project, visit the County’s website www.anokacounty.us/337/Construction-Projects.
Work started on Foley Boulevard in 2016 as part of a reconstruction project to improve safety and mobility along the roadway. According to Anoka County, over 15,000 vehicles travel on Foley Boulevard daily and estimates show that will increase to 25,000 vehicles per day by 2030. A trail will also be built as part of the project for pedestrians and bicyclists, which will connect to local and regional trails in the area.
