Residents are invited to submit name ideas for the new park to be built on Coon Rapids Boulevard! The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission is inviting residents to submit a name for the new park that will be built next to the Coon Rapid Ice Center(currently being referred to as Boulevard Park). The Commission wants to hear your ideas!
The park will feature a splash pad, park equipment for all ages, landscaping and trails. The park will be the only one of its kind in the city; no other parks currently have a splash pad. The City received a 50% discount on the playground equipment by ordering in 2016. Park construction will begin after the 2017 Fourth of July celebration which is also held on the grounds of the Coon Rapids Ice Center. The project is possible thanks to money from the Park Bond approved by voters in 2013. The park will be completed in 2017 but the splash pad won't be operational until summer 2018.
Naming Criteria: Name selection may acknowledge local historical events, people, significant community leaders, or may include the natural and cultural characteristics of the location and/or region.
Send us your ideas by filling out the online park naming form.
If you are not able to fill out the online form, please print off this PDF and submit it to the Coon Rapids Ice Center (11000 Crooked Lake Boulevard).
