The Coon Rapids Fire Department has been installing free smoke alarms to specific Coon Rapids neighborhoods thanks to the Home Fire Campaign, a grant program through the American Red Cross. The effort is designed to save lives, reduce injuries and build resilient communities through education.
The department will be out again later this summer in specific areas of town to continue this educational effort. If you are interested in receiving free smoke alarms, contact Fire Marshal Todd Williams at 763-767-6549 or by email.
This program is possible thanks to a five year grant provided by the American Red Cross. The national goal with The Home Fire Campaign is a 25% reduction in home fire deaths over the next five years. More lives are lost every year to home fires than to all other major disasters. You can keep your family safe with two simple steps: practice your two minute home escape drill and test your smoke alarms monthly.
